French Silver & Niello Enamel Box with an intricate design on all four sides. The Bottom and the sides have a delicate cross hatched pattern and the top has a detailed scene of 5 people revelling and gambling, with a fiddle player in the background. There are lovely tiny details to be enjoyed – down to the tiny playing cards scattered on the ground.

Niello Enamelling is unique due t the process involving the application of a mixture of lead, copper and silver sulphide inlayed into engraved patterns in the metal. This gives it the distinctive black and silver colouring.

Made in France.
