George IV Silver Gilt Serving Spoons - London - 1826 by WE

George IV Silver Gilt Serving Spoons - London - 1826 by WE

£5,500.00

A rare and highly decorative pair of early 19th-century English silver-gilt serving spoons, crafted in London in 1826 by WE. The spoons are beautifully formed as naturalistic vine leaves, the bowls finely textured and chased with detailed veining, trailing stems, and small clusters of grapes.

The handles are modelled as rustic vine branches terminating in cast putti (cherub) finials, adding to the sculptural quality of the design. The spoons retain their original rich silver-gilt finish, which enhances the depth and detail of the decoration.

Both pieces are fully hallmarked for London 1826, with the lion passant, crowned leopard's head and maker's mark W E.

Presented in their fitted antique case with velvet interior, these spoons represent an exceptional example of Regency naturalistic silver design and would have been intended for serving fruit, berries, or dessert at the dining table.

A rare surviving pair, particularly desirable with their original gilding and presentation case.
