George II Silver Bun Pepper - London, 1728 - Abel Brokesby

An exceptional early Georgian silver bun pepper, dating to 1728 and crafted in London by the noted silversmith Abel Brokesby. This elegant example is formed in the classic bun shape, standing on a stepped circular foot and topped with a finely pierced domed cover surmounted by a baluster finial.

The pierced decoration is crisply cut, allowing for the controlled dispensing of pepper, while also providing decorative contrast against the smooth, polished body. The proportions are well balanced, and the overall form is both practical and aesthetically refined-hallmarks of early 18th-century table silver.

The underside is clearly struck with the London hallmarks for 1728, together with the maker's mark of Abel Brokesby, confirming its authenticity and desirable early date within the reign of George II.

A rare and highly collectible piece of early Georgian silver, ideal for the discerning collector or as an elegant accent to a period dining display.
