A fine and early 19th-century English silver christening mug, dating to the reign of William IV and hallmarked for London, 1830. The mug was crafted by the renowned silversmiths E, E, J & W Barnard, a maker celebrated for high-quality domestic silver.

The mug features a classic baluster form with pronounced lobed sides, a shaped foot, and an elegant scroll handle. The interior retains its original gilt wash, adding both warmth and practical protection. The body is further enhanced by a beautifully engraved script inscription Deborah -10th October 1947, accompanied by a decorative monogram, reflecting its later presentation history.

Christening mugs of this early date are increasingly scarce, particularly by such a respected maker. This example combines pleasing proportions, fine craftsmanship, and clear hallmarks, making it an excellent choice for collectors of Georgian and early Victorian silver, or as a meaningful heirloom gift.
