Silver Gilt & Enamel Chinese Caddy - Circa 1920

Silver Gilt & Enamel Chinese Caddy - Circa 1920

£3,800.00

A striking Chinese silver gilt box, finely decorated with raised polychrome enamel panels depicting birds perched among flowering branches. The cylindrical body is divided into lobed sections, each richly detailed against a textured ground and further embellished with turquoise-coloured cabochons, adding depth and colour to the design.

The box retains its original fitted cover, echoing the lobed form and enclosing a gilt interior, which provides a warm contrast to the exterior enamel work. The combination of silver, enamel and applied ornament reflects the high level of craftsmanship associated with late Qing to early 20th-century Chinese export silver.

Both decorative and functional, this box would make an impressive display piece, or could be used as a luxury container for small personal items. A fine example of Chinese enamelled silver, appealing to collectors of Asian works of art and antique silver alike.

The box has a couple of small chips to the enamel.
